Emma’s Journey – June 2011
If I had to choose one ‘Me’ thing that I love to indulge in, it would have to be having a massage. I’m the biggest sucker for trying anything that alleges to relax me and to untie my twisted neck and back. But time after time I return to the humble massage; pleading for comfort. Flying a lot has not assisted any of these tension issues over the last year or so. I’ve just returned from a week in the US where we flew everyday and lugged around kilos of gear, and my back is in great need of a bit of attention!
The benefits of massage go way beyond ironing out kinks in our body, in terms of a muscular perspective. Clearly, relaxation is a bonus but so is the terrific night’s sleep that follows a massage. I also find that many of my internal organs function a lot better after a decent rub down.
In the depths of winter where we don’t seem to take as good a care of ourselves (chilly weather, that ever present lure of a glass of Shiraz which is too hard to resist) getting some exercise and a massage is a great way to stay on top of things. We all want to be rewarded and pampered every now and then. By having a massage, not only are you doing something nice for yourself, your also giving your body that helping hand it may need to rejuvenate itself!
